The marathon is less than 24 hours away.
I am sooooooo excited. Even if the weather report progressively got worse over the week.
I feel great about my training, I feel great about feeling great, and I am going to do a great job no matter what. My running friends and I have a fun day at Gritty’s and the running expo planned out, and I can’t wait.
But, still. Some big questions linger.
1. What am I going to wear?
I have a blue top that I wore to all my races this summer. It’s sleeveless and I wear it for the cute factor.
But I had a bad summer race in that top. So is that a bad omen? Or do I need to wear it to kick that omen in the ass (most of the Old Port Half-Marathon course will be covered in the Maine Marathon course).
Also, its totally going to be raining tomorrow. So … does that mean a sleeveless top is a good idea? Or a bad idea? Hard to say.
2. Am I going to listen to music?
If its raining hard before the race, this decision might be made for me, anyway, because I’m not bringing my poor, broken phone to the race to be short-circuited.
I have brought no music on training runs with friends. I have almost always listened to music alone. I probably will be running a lot of this race alone. 5 hours is a long time to be running without any distraction whatsoever.
But I will be annoyed if I bring my music and carry it for 26.2 miles and don’t listen to it.
3. How am I going to carry all these gels?
I have to find a way to haul five of these around:
I can fit about 3 comfortably in my pack. And I didn’t even really want to bring my water bottle belt anyway, because there will be water on the course and it will be really wet. But how else will I carry the massive amount of fuel I need for this race?
Maybe there will be inspiration from the expo.
Now, off to run my last two miles of training!
