I started running on Aug. 25, 2010 using the Couch to 5K program.
And I’m still running.
After I finished the Couch to 5K, I moved on to the Bridge to 10K, then trained for a half marathon in April 2011. I ran my first marathon in October 2011, a little more than a year after I started running.
As of this update (in May 2013) I’ve run 4 marathons, 8 half-marathons, and even a couple 5ks.
I was always overweight as a kid, as long as I can remember. I wore a size 13 when I was entering high school, and even though I liked sports (swimming, cycling, walking) and diet was an idea that was frequently at the top of my mind, I never really was able to get to a healthy weight (read = healthy body mass index).
But running helped me do that. Pretty easily, too, actually.
So this blog is about that journey. I’m not trying hard to lose weight any more, but it is a journey — to keep it off and stay active. I share what I do every day, and what I’ve learned along the way.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.
